Timo Tuovinen has worked in the international television industry for over 20 years as a channel executive and a producer. Currently, he is working as a consultant at his own company DOORStories Media Content Solutions Ltd, which specialises in product development for the emerging new media markets.
Timo taps on his extensive experience in content management and strategic channel planning. His current clients include Finpro, the Finnish Export Agency and numerous production outfits.
He is a member of SILE, the Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry consultant pool and he has researched digital television business models for the Finnish Ministry of Communications.
In 1984 Timo worked for the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, after completing his studies in California, where he majored in journalism and telecommunications. Upon returning back to his native homeland he started a cable television station in Kuopio, Finland.
All of 1990’s Timo was Head of programming for national TV stations, Finnish Broadcasting Company, YLE and Sanoma-WSOY owned Channel Four (Nelonen). He was responsible for all foreign program acquisitions and strategic planning, scheduling and international co productions.
Timo was first in Finland to produce a format based series, U Decide and later went on to co produce a Sundance Film Festival award winning documentary Amandla!
DOORStories’ most recent project is establishing a digital cluster for open content producers who want to benefit from emerging mobile television platform.
